Meet human rights defenders, peacebuilders and more in Barcelona!
We’re heading to Barcelona for three exciting events, and our platform is getting a major refresh at the same time. Here’s what’s coming up — and how you can get involved.
We’ve wrapped up a busy October and are charging into a whirlwind November!
From Berlin to Bern: we’re on the move
After 🇩🇪 Berlin, 🇬🇧 London, and 🇽🇰 Pristina, we organised our fourth Tech + Democracy meetup in 🇨🇭 Bern (Switzerland) on October 22. This time, we partnered with Build Up, Hello 50:50 World, and Impact Hub Bern to make it happen. The turnout and connections were inspiring — thank you again to everyone!
Here are some photos from the event, taken by Zak Greant:

📍 Sparkable is coming to Barcelona!
In November, we will be in Barcelona for these exciting events:
Mozilla Festival (Nov 7-9)
Our Executive Director, Vardon Hamdiu, will be attending Mozilla Festival in Barcelona from Nov 7-9. He's been invited to speak at the session "Designing Inclusive Tech through Collective Care" on Friday at 5:15 p.m., organized by TechHer Nigeria.
Join us to unpack how technology can perpetuate harm — and imagine inclusive, community-rooted ways to design safer tech for everyone.

Tech + Democracy Meetup (Nov 19)
Partnering again with Build Up, we are bringing the next Tech + Democracy meetup to Barcelona — expecting a lot of energy, no panels, lots of fun and meaningful connection.
If you’re based in Barcelona (or travelling there) and care about tech, society and democracy, this is your chance to connect in a fun informal setting. Find out more and sign up here:
Build Peace conference (Nov 21-23)
We're just as much looking forward to the Build Peace Conference from Nov 21-23, where Vardon will co-lead a workshop entitled "Deliberative Tools Are Taking Off — Let’s Decide Where They Should Go!" on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Join us to get hands-on with deliberative tools and help shape what’s next for them.

🛠️ A big platform update is in the works...
Back in September, we launched our unique reactions feature, enabling more prosocial engagement on Sparkable. That was a big step.
Now… we’re working on the biggest update the platform has seen. New look. Enhanced feel. Fresh functionality. In the coming weeks, we'll start a community consultation process and we're aiming to go live later this month. Stay tuned. 👀
🫶 Support our independent mission!
Sparkable is open, independent, and 100% user-funded.
Your support lets us keep innovating — for people, not profit.
